Q: What happens if a puppy doesn't sell?

A: All of our puppies find loving homes. We do whatever it takes and keep them as long as we need! We have a no kill policy so even puppies with congenital defects our placed through our RUNTS OF THE LITTER GANG. For more information on Runts of the Litter Gang please call or e-mail us!

Q: Have your puppies had all their shots?

A: Our puppies come into the store at about 8 weeks old. As soon as they get here they kept away from any puppies already here until they are Vet checked. We have a Vet come to the store and examine every puppy every week to ensure healthy puppies. Our Vet Dr. Brenda Romaniello also vaccinates all of our puppies when ever they are due. We also send our puppies to Connecticut Veterinary Center in West Hartford which is a 24 Animal Hospital for any emergency care. If any puppy is due for Rabies Vaccine we provide it's shot and tag and certificate to customer as well as the distemper shots.

Q: Are your puppies from local breeders?

A: Many people have a misunderstanding that "local" breeders means better. This is not true. Our breeders are licensed and inspected. Regular home breeders  are not licensed and are not required to give any warranties on puppies they sell. One of our out of state breeders is the bench mark for all other breeders in the state. His dogs are bred for beauty and temperment. We post all of their information with a picture of the dog in the playpens and you receive the info when you purchase the dog as well.

Q: What guarantee does my new puppy come with?

A: Our puppies come with a 20 day warranty for any health problems and a 6 month for any hereditary from date of purchase (this does not include "breed issues"). Our puppies are Vet checked every single week. We strive to make sure our puppies are healthy before they leave but not every illness can be detected due to incubation periods. We offer complementary exams as well as discounted prices after the first exam. We like to help in anyway we can. We do take care of anything needed through our vet if there is anything needed.

Q: Will my puppy get sick?

A: Very important!! Just as children pick up illnesses from other children, puppies can pick up colds, coughs, and illnesses from other dogs. We take the best possible care of our puppies, but because they run around the store together there is the possibility of them catching a cold from another puppy-just like a child in day care! We also have a quarantine room for any sick puppies to be cared for that develop any of these common puppy ailments. Like people, puppies can incubate illnesses or hide symptoms. That is why we have our Vet come in every week to examine them even if no illnesses are visible.

Q: What does a registered puppy mean?(akc,etc)

A: AKC stands for the American Kennel Club. This organization is the most familiar registry for pure bred dogs in the country. And there are several other purebred registries such as ACA, CKC, APR, etc. that also register and keep the lineage of purebred dogs. When you buy a purebred registered puppy (a puppy "with papers"), it means its family tree is documented as being exclusively that breed and it can be registered. One misunderstanding is that registered automatically means "healthier" or that it is automatically a show dog. Neither is necessarily true. A registered dog means only that its parents are of the same breed and the dog comes from a purebred line. We do not guarantee our puppies for show or breeding. They are sold as companion pets. Many people do register their puppies and it is fun to look at the names of the parents and other relatives. Proven show-quality dogs can cost in the thousands, like racehorses, and other champions. But show dogs do not have guarantees of better health or personalities. Often what distinguishes a show quality dog from one that is not are traits so specific and detailed. Don't believe that just because it is not AKC that it is not pure. Like stated, we sell companion dogs!

Q: Which puppy would be best for me and my allergies?

A: Breeds which do not shed are best for people with allergies. Some breeds that you might consider are Bichons, Shih-tzu, Yorkies and Malteses. The Puppy Patch deals in small breeds mostly so many of these and others that are hypo-allergenic are running around the store for you to pet and play with!
